Resigned from my job and now in the process of fixing one of my servers.
Philipp and me are currently preparing the new vitals of our gretchen (now guess why the websites are down). I won't have access to my mail nor to my jabber account for a bit, but it should be back up soon, of course all new and improved™.
Yesterday I resigned from my job at the callcenter. After a day where nothing worked, and my throat and voice box continued to hurt like hell, I couldn't help but innerly explode. I didn't plan on resigning that day, but being near shedding a tear, I didn't see any other option. When talking to my boss about it, I even got loud but he understood me very well and agreed. So did the director who told me she thinks it's the right decision for me.
It feels like a megaton fell off my shoulders. We'll keep contact though, I'll do consulting when needed. I'll now focus on the piece of callcenter software I've been working on for some time now. I've got loads of positive feedback about it, especially by agents as well as executives. Johan joined me, which I'm very happy about. I'm very excited about developing a piece of software with Semantic Web technologies that will (hopefully) actually be used.
Interesting times ahead, again. I should get another dull student job for 20 hours a week that gets me health insurance and a little money to fund development and moving out. Anyone got any suggestions beyond Minopolis?
Apple's Pro Keyboard is shipped with a USB extension cord. But you can only use it the way Apple intended it to.
For those that haven't noticed, the ending on right, has a little bump inside the right socket. Only the keyboard has the fitting jack, you can't even connect it to itself. It's useless for anything else.
Why does Apple ship such accessories? How does it help them if doesn't even work with the majority of their own products? I currently only see the effect of pissed off or sad customers, like me.
I curse you vi.
Apparently I accidently deleted an o
in a configuration file which caused the ethernet card module not to load. Only a limited audience will know what this means so let me put it this way: hooray, the server was down for almost exactly one day, after about 295 days uptime.
All because the new Gentoo Apache configurations don't work as desired – I still haven't been able to get up https which used to work fine with the old configuration. I gave up for today.
(Repeat after me, Apache configuration is black magic, Apache configuration is black magic, Apache …)
Have I mentioned that I want DNS to have better fallback features? Man, even though I do not run any major services, it's still depressing to see one of your servers offline without the ability to do much, even though you could easily set up a Sorry, we'll be back soon…
site.
Meh.
Facial feature similiarities with some ... influential people.
Ryan says i look similiar to this man:
Karin thinks so too. But do you know who this is? Young Karl Marx. I'm a few kilometers away from what was Karl Marx Stadt
in the German Democratic Republic, now (again) Chemnitz
(just heard about this yesterday).
I'd be honoured if there'd be a city named after me, but please in a different context.
